Year: Junior Major: Music Education If I could be any animal, I would definitely be an Otter. They are just so dang cute and cuddly! Watching an Otter move on land is definitely very similar to me trying to get out of bed in the mornings- a lot of work. My favorite part of SAI is getting to know and understand how other members love and passion of music started. It's a common bond that we all share, even though we've all been touched by music differently. Ideally, my dream job would be working as an Elementary music school teacher for a great city, while also being an assistant band director for a local marching band. Marching band is a huge interest and love of mine, and tying it into my full time teaching job would be a dream come true! Nerdy, I know. I began playing the trumpet when I was a fifth grader as part of a beginning band class and never put it down. In high school, I served as drum major for three years during the marching band season, and played in the jazz band. While at Colorado State University I've also been in numerous techniques courses that allow me to learn and play different instruments other than my primary. Some of these include the violin, piano, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trombone, tuba, and french horn. Throughout college I've also been a part of numerous ensembles including the basketball pep band, concert band, marching band and symphonic band. I'm also a section coach for the Middle School Outreach Ensemble trumpet section. As a current member of the Colorado State University trumpet studio, I'm always striving to become a better musician for my future students! Favorite music: OneRepublic, The Script, John Mayer, Aerosmith, John Mackey, anything written by John Williams or Andrew Lloyd Webber, The Fray, Fleetwood Mac, Gustav Holst, Coldplay, and so many others! Fun fact: I am 100% in love with Harrison Ford back in his youth. I'm convinced young Harrison Ford is the best thing to happen to this world. |

Year: Senior Major: History with a minor in Political Science If you were an animal what would you be and why? If I were an animal I would probably be a Golden Retriever because I’m fairly loyal to the people I love, and I enjoy sleeping, car rides and playing in the park. Also I kind of look like a Golden Retriever. Favorite part of SAI? The friendships I have built in this organization are something I wouldn’t trade for anything. I love my SAI sisters and the connection that we will share for the rest of our lives. Dream Job? I would love to work in the field of Historic Preservation. Musical background? I’ve played the viola since the 5th grade and did Color Guard for 5 years during middle school and high school! Favorite music? This is such a hard question for me to answer because I really love all different kinds of music. I mostly prefer upbeat and happy music, unless it's raining then I love alternative acoustic kinds of music. Interesting Fact: I can recite the alphabet backwards! |

Year: Junior Major: Music Therapy with a Performance Enhancement Track in Voice If you were an animal, what would you be and why? A monkey because I wanna be good at climbing and be able to swing from trees!! Favorite part of SAI? My favorite part of SAI is my sisters (DUH) ;) Dream Job? My dream job is Music Therapy! And if I ever get sick of that, my dream is to become a voice actress. Musical background? I played in a steel drum ensemble for three years in high school. In this ensemble, I played all four types of steel drums and sung lead vocals for various pieces. I also took a music composition course throughout high school, and grew passionate about composing in my own time. I have always had a passion for singing, and only learned to sing classical music just before auditioning for the Colorado State University voice program. So far, I have fallen in love with opera and the classical technique, and look forward to performing in future Opera productions at CSU. In addition to singing, I enjoy playing the guitar, piano, and ukulele. Favorite music? Classic rock and indie rock. I was raised on the Beatles and the Grateful Dead. My favorite indie bands are Beach House, Alt J, and Grizzly Bear. Interesting fact? I can sing opera and juggle at the same time! |

Year: Senior Major: Double Major in Sociology and Percussion If you were an animal what would you be and why? If I could be any animal, I would be a manatee. Manatees are sea cows and I love both cows and the sea. Favorite part of SAI? The wonderful ladies that I’ve met along the way. I’ve learned a lot from all of them and I appreciate all they do for me. Dream Job? My dream job would be to have no job. I’d love to just have large quantities of money for no reason and then volunteer for different organizations all around the world. Musical background? My mom is a music teacher, so I’ve been involved in music since I was a baby! I’ve taken piano lessons throughout the years, and I’ve been playing percussion since I was in 5th grade. Favorite music? Moana soundtrack. Hands down. Interesting Fact: Pocahontas is my all time favorite person. Both in real life and as the Disney character. |

Year: Senior Major: Horticulture, Floriculture Concentration Of all the animals that I could be I would be a pug. They are by far my favorite animal and I feel like they are the dog equivalent of me – energetic, but lazy and just silly to watch try to coordinate their own body! My favorite part of SAI is being able to have a group of friends that I know I can be myself around and I don’t have to be my normal guarded self. I can have fun with other girls who love music just as much as I do and I couldn’t be any happier. My dream job is a job I already have: a florist. Though I love it so much already there is more I plan on doing. After I graduate I plan on saving up some money to purchase a delivery van/food truck to fix up and use as a flower truck! Imagine an ice cream truck, but for flowers! Eventually one day I do plan on owning my own store, but the truck is my main goal right now! I started playing clarinet in 6th grade when my mom thought she got a flute from a garage sale/auction. Though I did play clarinet up until my 3rd year in college it was not the only instrument I played. Starting in high school I picked up the alto saxophone for jazz band and was quickly switched over to baritone saxophone to fill in a whole and I loved it. I was asked to also play bass clarinet for concert band part way through high school. When I came to CSU I played clarinet for marching band and alto saxophone for concert band. Going into my fourth year I was sick of clarinet so I decided to learn sousaphone for marching band and with that I played tuba in concert band. I have plans to teach myself cello and piano in the future! Favorite Music: Trivium, Avenged Sevenfold, Five Finger Death Punch, Sabaton, Blind Guardian, Disturbed, Panic! At The Disco, Skillet, Shinedown, All That Remains, Killswitch Engage, Alter Bridge, DragonForce, Gloryhammer, Three Days Grace. Fun Fact: I’ve worn glasses since I was 11 because when I was younger I read too much and my eyesight adjusted to having a book in front of my face and never went back. |

Year: Junior Major: Music Therapy If I were an animal, I would be a cat. Cats love to sleep, eat, and receive affection, just like me! Plus, I'm obsessed with cats. My favorite part about SAI is our wonderful sisterhood; I know I will have friends no matter where I go. All of the women in our chapter are amazing and I feel lucky to know them! My dream job is to be a Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) who works with infants in the NICU, early intervention and early childhood, and who does research in these areas. I absolutely love developmental psychology (and psychology in general)! One day, I hope to earn a Doctorate of Music Therapy. I began playing the viola when I was in preschool, and it is my primary instrument as a music major! I started playing alto saxophone in 5th grade, and taught myself piano and guitar in middle school. I love to sing as well! As a violist, I was a member of the Nebraska All State Orchestra for 3 years in high school, as well as my high school's orchestra and chamber orchestra. Throughout high school, I was in the Lincoln East Marching Band, and became drum major during my senior year. I played alto sax in various concert bands and was a member of the Blue Note Jazz Band at East. I really miss playing jazz! Currently, I'm a music major at CSU and I try to write my own music when I have time. Favorite bands/artists: Radiohead, Sufjan Stevens, Lady Lamb, St. Vincent, Kendrick Lamar, Grimes, Childish Gambino, Beach House, Jeff Buckley, Mild High Club, Tame Impala, Spoon, Mac DeMarco, Pink Floyd, aivi & surasshu, Speedy Ortiz, Big Thief, Alvvays, and so many more. Fun fact: I'm half Chinese, half German, and I'm pansexual! |

Year: Junior Major: Music: Vocal Performance If I were an animal I would probably be some kind of bird, maybe a canary or a mockingbird, because they are songbirds and I am a vocalist and I would love to fly! I am also a frequent traveler and consider myself a bit of a free-spirit. I love all animals through and through so that is definitely a difficult question for me. My favorite part of SAI is definitely the incredible sense of family and sisterhood that comes with it. I can relate to these women more than anyone else in school, and it is nice to be around others that share my passions and struggles. I also really enjoy getting to perform and experience music that is not related to my major. I play piano and violin besides being a vocalist, and SAI is a lovely outlet to be able to show those talents at musicales and enjoy others' maybe"hidden" talents as well! My dream job is definitely to be a professional vocalist! Whether that be touring on a cruise ship, starring in a show on Broadway or at the Met, or just doing local and state-wide gigs at different venues. My musical background is pretty extensive. I have been singing in choir since the 4th grade and have loved music, singing, and performing ever since! I did A LOT of theater in middle school and high school, but put that to rest to study Music Composition at CSU. I have recently switched majors to performance and am in two choirs on campus as well as singing in the operas! My favorite music is all music. I know that is a cliche music major answer, but I really do have a great appreciation for every style of music. I definitely go through phases on what I am listening to, and honestly don't find myself listening to a lot of choral or vocal music outside of school. I enjoy instrumental music, rap, pop, Dubstep, cheesy 80's songs, folk, and oldies. An interesting fact about me is that I have spent all summer and some of the Fall semester as an ice cream truck driver! |
