Hometown: Lincoln, Nebraska Year: Senior Major: Music Therapy Favorite thing about SAI: One of my favorite things about SAI is being connected to other SAI sisters across the country and around the world! I have had many opportunities to connect with and learn from other SAI sisters, and am excited to continue meeting other sisters who share my passion for music. Musical Background: I began learning to play the viola in preschool at age 5. In fifth grade, I began learning to play the alto saxophone. Around sixth grade, I began teaching myself to play guitar and piano. In middle school, I played in my school’s concert band and jazz band, and was a member of Lincoln Nebraska’s Junior Youth Orchestra. In high school, I was a member of the marching band for 4 years (marched alto for 3, drum major for 1), played viola in my school’s orchestra and chamber strings ensemble, played in the concert band, symphonic band, and wind ensemble, played alto sax and sang in the jazz band, and was a member of the Nebraska All State Orchestra for 3 years. Here at CSU, I am a member of the CSU Symphony Orchestra, and have played viola in the orchestra pit for a few of CSU’s opera productions. I write and record my own music, and am in a 4 piece rock band! We don’t have a name yet, but are working on writing and recording demos, and will hopefully be playing shows in Fort Collins and Northern Colorado soon :) Favorite places to visit in FoCo: Downtown Artery, FoCo DoCo, Waltzing Kangaroo, Dragon Lee, Ace Gilette’s, Elliot’s, Coppermuse Distillery, White Balcony, Fort Collins Cat Rescue, Bath Nursery, Kansas City Kitty, The Gold Leaf Collective, Wild Boar Plans after CSU: After I finish my coursework, I will complete a 6-month clinical music therapy internship and take the Music Therapy Board Certification exam. As a music therapist, I want to work with early childhood and mental/behavioral health populations, as well as in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Hometown: Madison, South Dakota Year: Senior Major: Human Development and Family Studies: Early Childhood Education, Minor in Music Favorite thing about SAI: My favorite part of SAI is getting to know and understand how other members love and passion of music started. It's a common bond that we all share, even though we've all been touched by music differently. Musical Background: I began playing the trumpet when I was a fifth grader as part of a beginning band class and never put it down. In high school, I served as drum major for three years during the marching band season, and played in the jazz band. While at Colorado State University I've also been in numerous techniques courses that allow me to learn and play different instruments other than my primary. Some of these include the violin, piano, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trombone, tuba, and french horn. Throughout college I've also been a part of numerous ensembles including the basketball pep band, concert band, symphonic band, and a section leader for the CSU Marching Band. I'm also a section coach for the Middle School Outreach Ensemble trumpet section. I spent many years as a member of the CSU Trumpet studio, which allowed me many great performance opportunities during my undergrad. Favorite places to visit in FoCo: The Oval, Dungeons and Drafts, CSU Stadium, Lincoln Center, Horsetooth Plans after CSU: I would love to get a job as an Elementary school teacher in, or near, Fort Collins! Ideally I would love to teach either Kindergarten or First grade. Favorite music/artists: OneRepublic, The Script, John Mayer, Aerosmith, John Mackey, anything written by John Williams or Andrew Lloyd Webber, The Fray, Fleetwood Mac, Gustav Holst, Coldplay, and so many others! I also am an avid lover and supporter of the Mamma Mia! Soundtrack :-) |

Hometown: San Jose, California Year: Sophomore Major: Biological Sciences: Cellular, Molecular, and Genetic Biology, Minors in Chemistry, Microbiology, and Criminology/Criminal Justice Favorite thing about SAI?: I love meeting all the people involved with this organization. It is interesting to see how we can all have different backgrounds and life paths, yet something as simple as a love of music can bring us together. Musical Background: In middle school, I learned how to play the trumpet and continued to practice for three years. When I arrived in high school, my band was lacking low brass players, so I picked up Euphonium. My junior year of high school, I joined jazz band and learned how to play trombone. I also joined choir where I sang Alto 1 and Acapella Club where I sang Soprano 2. My senior year of Marching Band I played Contrabass and sang as a Tenor 1 with Advanced Vocal. I currently play Sousaphone with the CSU Marching Band. Favorite places to visit in FoCo: Horsetooth, Wild Boar, the Oval Plans after CSU?: I plan to attend a graduate school to study forensic science, and am looking into a doctorate program studying pathology or genetics. I would love to work as a lab technician in criminal cases or in a research lab. Fun Fact: I was a competitive dancer for 11 years. |

Year: Senior Major: English: Literature, Minor in Political Communications Favorite thing about SAI?: We chartered this organization as a group of people who love and are passionate about music, and every year, we continue to develop as people and sisters. We all created and continue to create this organization to be what we want it to be, and I think it is beautiful that all of us become so close because of our mutual interests. Musical Background: When I was very young, I always wanted to be a musician. My mom had a flute from when she was younger, and when I was in 6th grade, she let me use it in our concert band. From there, I ended up learning any instrument our director needed that year. I switched to trumpet, alto sax, bari sax, and landed on the tenor sax at the end of high school. Once I got to college, I decided to audition for the marching band, and I got in! I played tenor sax in marching band, and bari sax in concert band for a few years. Last year I decided to switch to the sousaphone section, and had a great time with that. Outside of these bands, I have also picked up the ukulele, which has become my favorite instrument. Favorite place(s) to visit in FoCo: Horsetooth, City Park at night in the summer when you can feel a warm breeze and listen to the sounds of nightlife, anywhere with a geocache, the Oval, my own cozy bed. Plans after CSU?: That’s a good question. I don’t know exactly what I want to do with my life, but I want to make other people’s lives better. This might mean joining the Peace Corps, it might mean working for a non-profit organization, and it might mean I freelance around the world with a ball of yarn and knitting needles. Favorite music/artists: Cage the Elephant, Foster the People, Young the Giant, The Fray, Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, OneRepublic, Ed Sheeran, David Bowie, Arctic Monkeys, Dodie Clark, Panic at the Disco, The X Ambassadors, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Passenger, Lana Del Rey, Theory of a Deadman, Cake, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Taylor Swift, Eminem, Run the Jewels, Macy Gray, Pink, Shakira, among others. |
