Hometown: San Jose, California Year: Junior Major: Biological Sciences: Cellular, Molecular, and Genetic Biology; Minors in Chemistry, Microbiology, and Criminology/Criminal Justice Favorite thing about SAI: I love meeting all the people involved with this organization. It is interesting to see how we can all have different backgrounds and life paths, yet something as simple as a love of music can bring us together. Musical Background: In middle school, I learned how to play the trumpet and continued for three years. When I arrived in high school, my band was lacking low brass players, so I picked up the euphonium. My junior year of high school, I joined jazz band and learned how to play trombone. I also joined choir where I sang Alto 1 and acapella club where I sang Soprano 2. My senior year of Marching Band I played contrabass and sang as a Tenor 1 with Advanced Vocal in addition to the other ensembles I continued to perform in. I currently play sousaphone with the CSU Marching Band and the athletic pep bands, as well as performing with the CSU Concert Band. Favorite places to visit in FoCo: Horsetooth, Alley Cat, the movie theater for $5 tuesdays! Plans after CSU: I plan to attend a graduate school to study forensic science, and am looking into doctorate programs studying either pathology, genetics, or parasitology and vector biology. Hometown: Cedaredge, Colorado Year: Junior Major: Anthropology: Archaeology; Minor in Criminal Justice Favorite thing about SAI: My favorite thing about being a part of SAI is that, even though we are all different majors and have different interests, music brings us together, from what seems to be all different aspects of college life! Through this organization, I have had the incredible opportunity to meet people from completely different backgrounds and completely different places, but through music, we share a common bond and a common friendship. I think that is pretty incredible! Musical Background: I began to play the clarinet the first chance I could in sixth grade and have loved it ever since! In middle school, I played in the beginning and advanced band, and was also invited to join the high school in their jazz band. I continued to play the clarinet through high school in both the concert band and marching band, where I played first chair and served as drum major for two years. As drum major, I was given the incredible opportunity to lead the Cedaredge High School Bruins through the Memorial Day Parade in Washington D.C. in 2017! At Colorado State University, I have played in both the Marching Band and Concert Band as well. Aside from clarinet, I have tried to learn to play various instruments on my own, including percussion and flute. I was also a member of the Cedaredge choir my eighth-grade year in middle school up until my junior year in high school in both the concert choir and audition-based show choir. As a member of the show choir, I was also able to sing at the Air Force Memorial in Washington D.C. in 2017 for Memorial Day. Favorite places to visit in FoCo: Alley Cat Café, Horsetooth, the Oval, any museum! Plans after CSU: I hope to be accepted into a graduate program to, eventually, receive my doctorate in anthropology. My dream job is to work in Mesoamerica to study the various archaeological sites there, including Teotihuacan, the Maya, the Aztecs, and the hundreds of undiscovered cities and artifacts that are just waiting to be uncovered! I have also discovered that I am incredibly interested in forensic anthropology, and I hope to have the chance to utilize this passion and my criminal justice minor to study criminals and assist in solving crimes. Favorite music/artists: Any Musical Soundtrack, Jon Bellion, Pierce the Veil, Set if Off, Bring Me The Horizon, Falling in Reverse, Twenty One Pilots, Panic! At the Disco, Sleeping with Sirens, Young the Giant, The Offspring, Billy Joel, Green Day, Queen, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, The Killers, and more!
