On the 6th of December 2013, members of the Phi Mu Alpha Pi Upsilon chapter met with interested women from the Colorado State University Marching Band regarding the colonization of a chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota on Colorado State's campus.
On January 29th, 2014, the first meeting of interested women occurred.
Soon after, the first officer team was elected on the 18th of March 2014.
The group of women were officially approved as a colony on September 17th of 2014.
After two years of hard work to establish a solid membership base, the colony’s petition was approved on October 11th, 2016.
They hosted their Post-Petition Visit on February 19th, 2017, and began the journey to initiation.
On April 23rd, 2017 the Mu Tau chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota was officially established in Region 1, Xi C Province.

Natasha Bayless, Kendra Brecka, Purna Chandramouli, Mallory Connors, Copper Ferreira, Alex Jankowski, Michaela Kimbrough, Kassidy King, Cassidy Koolmees, Emma Loeffler, Hailey Moy, Michaela Neale, Abigale Palmer, Hannah Ramirez, Bethany Roof, Kayleigh TenBarge, Nicky Tisdall, and Alex Young.
